Project
Concern International/India (PCI/India), a registered
Charitable Society in India, is an affiliate of
Project Concern International (PCI),
a renowned international U.S.-based nonprofit organization
that has been saving lives of millions of children
and their families around the globe for over 45
years. With programs in Africa, Asia, Latin America,
and North America, PCI’s aim is to create lasting
change by building healthy communities and promote
sustainable development.
PCI/India
has been active in India since 1997. With a population
of one billion, the vast majority of whom live in
poverty, India faces serious challenges to keep
its population healthy. India is home to over 5
million people living with HIV/AIDS, bears the second
largest number of polio cases globally, and has
between 10 and 25 million street and working children.
In response, PCI/India has developed a diverse portfolio
of programs in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention,
care and support; polio eradication; water, sanitation
and the environment; micro-enterprise and micro
finance; humanitarian assistance and organizational
training and support.
PCI/India’s programs
are participatory, community driven, gender sensitive,
and holistic in nature. PCI/India strives to use
local human and institutional resources to assure
cost-effective and sustainable development. |

|
|
Motivated
by our concern for the world’s vulnerable children,
families and communities, Project Concern International

Our Core Values |
|
We value health as a basic human right.
We
believe that every individual should have the opportunity
to achieve optimal physical, psychological, socio-economic
and environmental health and well-being.
We promote equitable access.
We
believe everyone should have equitable access to
socio-economic development opportunities and resources
for health.
We work as partners.
We
intentionally form partnerships based on common
values and the will to transcend our differences
with those who share our long-term commitment to
promote health among children, families and communities.
We recognize our primary partners are those we serve.
We require integrity.
We
demand the highest possible standards of conduct
and ethics. We act with responsibility, openness
and transparency.
We ensure program and fiscal accountability.
We
implement effective programs with meaningful, measurable
results. We evaluate the progress made toward goals
and objectives to ensure excellence in our programs.
We are accountable to our donors and those we serve
to ensure resources are used efficiently, effectively
and for the purposes intended.
We celebrate diversity.
We
respect and honor diverse cultures, histories, traditions
and their expression. We are building an organization
that reflects and represents the richness of our
partners.
We support community self-determination.
We
believe development must be determined by communities
with the consensus of their members, promoting the
use of local resources. Together with our partners,
we identify and mobilize all available resources
to ensure local benefit.
We expect breakthroughs.
We
promote a dynamic learning environment where critical
thinking, creativity and innovation flourish. Global
social changes demand responsible risk-taking measured
by improvements in the lives of children, families
and communities.
We take action.
We
emphasize actions that address long-term health
and development, while recognizing a responsibility
to meet the immediate health needs of those who
